Patricia show us her talent with the spoons
<ins class="insert">How quickly the time flies, six weeks have come and gone and the New Harmonies Exhibit has moved on to it's new home. What a busy time for us especially the last 10 days. The grade school children made the last few days of the exhibit quite exciting. They have such curiosity, enthusium, and energy. Mr. Willis Dickerson put together a washtub bass for the children to make music on. That combined with the spoons, diddley bow and rub board made the museum ring with music and laughter.
Thanks go out to all the people that worked so hard to put the entertainment together, the board members and volunteers who worked so hard to keep the doors open and and put in many man hours for whatever was needed of them. Also thank you to the community for supporting our first event of this size.
{Music_Under_the_Stars.jpg} Residents and visitors enjoy "Music Under the Stars" in front of the Boyhood Home
We are planning two capstone experiences celebrating our American Roots Music exhibit. The first will be held on September 26th and brings Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys to Hannibal. The second will be held on November 30th, the 175th anniversary of Samuel Clemens' birth. The Museum is collaborating with Grammy Award-winning musician and producer Carl Jackson to create a CD tribute to Mark Twain's legacy. It will feature bluegrass-style traditional music and spoken word to tell the life story of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known to the world as Mark Twain.</ins>
